3 Steps To Finding Your Entrepreneur Tribe
Posted on March 21 2019
I don’t know about you, but one of the biggest reasons I started my own business was that I craved freedom. I saw my future through some rosy-as-hell colored glasses and believed that I could do it all. I had the answers. I could work from anywhere. I could design my business the way I wanted to. I knew who to ask for help or advice when I needed it, but that wouldn’t be often. In all honesty, I was able to do a lot of that, but it was lonely. I struggled to stay inspired and motivated some days. I also had to learn from way too many mistakes (that whole “ask for help” thing didn’t come as naturally as I thought- thanks ego). And man, I am tired. Some days I'm too exhausted to think of the solutions. But you know what I’ve found gives me energy? People. Specifically people who are living through the same thing. We can laugh about all of the dumb moves we’ve made, talk sincerely about the pitfalls and the struggles, help each other with ideas and drink spicy margaritas when the big wins happen. So, how do you find those people? Here are 3 steps to finding your entrepreneur tribe:
1. Get old fashioned: Simply be brave and say hi! There are plenty of other small business owners in your area. It may be as simple as stopping by the spin studio down the street, or going for a massage at the spa in your neighborhood. Ask for the owner and THANK THEM for what they’ve built. Schedule a coffee date, or a wine night. Go to a business networking group together. Then schedule a follow up get together before you part ways.
2. Find your crew online: If you haven’t checked out MINDBODY One yet, get in there already! Thousands of well-preneurs are in One talking daily about everything from best ways to clean your studio mirrors, to how to increase the lifetime value of your clients. There are monthly virtual meetups where you can see each other via video calls, and hear from industry experts. It’s a big group, and it’s fun.
3. Join a mastermind: Mastermind may be a bit of a buzzword these days, but it’s for a reason. They produce results and make your life as an entrepreneur way more enjoyable. You learn, laugh, get vulnerable and ultimately find a tribe that you’ll be connected to for the long run. Your mastermind group is one you can rely on to help your business and your piece of mind. It can be hard to find the right one, so I recommend looking for a group that understands your industry and your place in life.
Lucky for you ladies out there, I partnered with some industry rockstars and created one that will be launching this spring. Our Inspired Studio Mastermind is built for female studio owners. And it’s going to be incredible. I’m beyond inspired by Katie Santos and Seran Glanfield, and I know you will be too.
If anything, I hope I’ve convinced you that you don’t have to do everything all by yourself. There is life beyond the overwhelm. You’ll find that successful studios may seem to be driven forward by a single leader, but that person isn’t usually completely alone. They are usually supported by a team, and encircled by a tribe. If you still are unsure if a mastermind, or something else is right for you, schedule a consult with us, and we can help you find the right support system.
